The Book Meshuggenahs are Jewish women from America and Israel writing award-winning, traditionally published books with Jewish themes and characters for kids. Their books have won numerous awards, including National Jewish Book Award, Sydney Taylor Book Award, National Council for the Social Studies and National Council for Teachers of English honors, Outstanding Science Trade Book Award, Cook Prize Honor, and have been selected for PJ Library and the Junior Library Guild. Our passion is to get kids excited about the rich diversity of Jewish books that we are creating. We want to encourage kids to become creators, too. That’s why we run an annual Chaiku contest, to encourage kids to write haikus on Jewish themes.
